Mt Albert Lionesses 16 vs 56 Richmond Roses

An on-form Richmond Roses at the top of the table met 4th on the table, the Mt Albert Lionesses on the 3rd July 2024 at Wednesday Night League. Coached by Auckland Rugby League’s Women Premiership Coach of the year, Tarsha Davies, the Lionesses are showing their growth in this year's Steele-Shanks Premiership Women’s Rugby League competition.

The two sides took a moment of silence, to pay respects for the loss of the grandma of Sini Magele Mariner (#8) and Freeda Mariner (#4) of the Lionesses just before kick-off in Round 8 clash.

It was to be the Moana Cook show, scoring a defining hat-trick for the Roses, against her old team. Richmond showed moments of brilliance and cemented their position as competition favorites.

Richmond's Paulina Morris-Ponga and Paris Pickering were fantastic, scoring 24 points between the two of them. Mt Albert had several key players out through injury, and while they are struggling to find some consistent form, a late try in the match showed they have plenty of resillence.

Moana Cook was the Health Basics Player of the Match on the night.
